Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)

Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), previously known as Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD), is chronic pain syndrome that may affect the leg, arm, hand, foot, or, in some cases, even the entire body. It typically develops after an injury, surgery, heart attack, or stroke. The condition cause is not well understood. It is thought to be caused by an abnormality of the peripheral and central nervous systems. CRPS can occur in anyone, at any age, and is more common with women.
